Policy > Class Make-up Policy
During the course of a class series, we understand that it is common for you to occasionally miss class due to travel, parent or child illness or other circumstances that may arise. In light of this, we try to accommodate make-up requests whenever possible. Please see the class list below so that you understand the specific make-up policies pertinent to your situation.
If Isis Maternity cancels a class due to instructor illness or other non-weather related situations, please see our make-up policies at class cancellation policies. For our weather-related make-up policies please weather policies.
New Moms Groups
Great Beginnings
Next Step Baby Group
Caterpillars
- No make-ups allowed due to the following:
- The new moms group experience is based on continuity and group cohesiveness. Since these are discussion and sharing groups, participants get to know one another very well and become close. It would be disruptive to the group experience to have a new person randomly dropping in. Many of the participants end up missing one or two groups of the series (due to doctors appointments, travel, family visiting, mom or baby illness), but you will always receive a call from one or more group members to let you know what was missed and if there are any plans for the week ahead. Much of the new moms group benefit occurs outside the classroom, with phone and email lists and activities and walks organized by the group leader and/or participants
Developmental Groups
Social Butterflies
Movers and Groovers
Explorers
Sprouts
Lightening Bugs
Walkers and Talkers
- If you miss a developmental group session because you or your child is sick, or if there is a family emergency, you may make-up up to two classes.
- Please coordinate directly with your instructor to arrange for a make-up class. Let your instructor know the date you missed and the class you plan to drop in on to make it up. She will contact the instructor of that group to let her know you are coming; the staff associates do not need to be involved in the coordination of the make-up.
- Number of make-ups are done using the honor system. Please respect our liberal policy.

3) Enjoy your makeup class! You will not hear back from the Isis Maternity staff unless there is a question/concern regarding your request.
- PLEASE NOTE:We require 48 hrs notice before you attend a makeup. We cannot guarantee that your request will be read/processed and you may end up being turned away from a class if you email with less than 48 hrs notice. **
Additional guidelines:
1) You may not attend a class that is already full
2) You may not attend a makeup AFTER your class series has ended.
3) You can only attend a makeup in the same type of class in which you are enrolled.
Prenatal Classes
- Isis Maternity does not recommend taking prenatal classes (with the exception of prenatal yoga and fitness) during weeks 36 to 40 of pregnancy. If you choose to take your prenatal classes during this time and you give birth early or cannot attend your class for other pregnancy-related reasons, we will issue you a center credit rather than a refund (pending a note from your health care provider).
