Natural Childbirth

The natural birthing philosophy views childbirth as a normal and natural process. The Natural Childbirth class is designed for those who would like to prepare for or are interested in exploring the option of an unmedicated birth. Led by a certified childbirth educator, this series of classes prepares you for childbirth through the practice of relaxation, visualization, position changes, positive communication methods and comfort measures such as massage and hydrotherapy. This comprehensive Natural Childbirth class includes the same information about the stages of labor and birth as provided in our Prepared Childbirth Classes. Although the focus of this class is on preparing for an unmedicated birth, information about medical pain relief options, preparing for unexpected situations and cesarean birth will also be discussed. Active participation of the partner or support person is strongly encouraged. We encourage you to take Natural Childbirth around the fifth or sixth month of pregnancy to allow time to practice the techniques you learn throughout the remainder of your pregnancy. This class is designed for one pregnant person and their nonpregnant partner or support person.
