As a childbirth educator, you will teach up to 10 expecting couples in a group setting at one or more of our Isis Maternity locations in Arlington, Needham and Brookline. Class formats include single-day, two-day classes on consecutive weekends, and week-night series (2 to 6 weeks depending on type of class). Utilizing Isis Maternity childbirth education curriculum, you will create a comfortable and safe environment for expectant parents, enabling participants to approach birth with confidence and knowledge.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Set-up and break-down of class room.
- Teach childbirth education using Isis Maternity curriculum.
- Provide supportive learning and sharing environment.
- Create opportunities for group interaction.
- Assess client needs and recommend appropriate Isis Maternity products and services.
Requirements:
- Must have a current childbirth education certification or experience as a labor & delivery nurse.
- Childbirth Education experience a plus, or willingness to train via class observation.
- Physical requirements include ability to lift, stack and unstack chairs, stand for long periods, twist and bend.
The ideal candidate will:
- Create a comfortable and safe learning environment.
- Be comfortable speaking in a group (up to 20 people).
- Be knowledgeable in current evidence-based childbirth practices.
- Able to appropriately address difficult child-birth related topics and choices without judgment.
