Amanda R.
Amanda wishes she could count herself as a Boston native, but in reality she grew up in Seattle and the St. Paul, MN area. Amanda brings her experiences in the fields of HIV/AIDS and Adolescent Health Education, as well as her background as a DONA-trained Birth Doula. Amanda earned her BA in Liberal Arts from Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York where she studied a wide range of disciplines from adolescent and child psychology to color photography. Amanda has a long-held interest in health and wellness, particularly as related to sexual and reproductive health, and she is passionate about supporting moms and families at Isis Maternity. As a new homeowner, Amanda’s most recent hobbies all revolve around painting, putting up shelving and assembling Swedish-made furniture. She is a lover of good food, good books, good movies and (secretly) all things pop culture. She will challenge anyone to a game of trivial pursuit 90’s edition, but most of all loves relaxing with her friends and family. Amanda and her partner, Mell, make their home in Somerville.
Amy R.
Amy hails from rural Nova Scotia, Canada. She recently graduated with a bachelors of Arts from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec where she majored in Anthropology and double minored in Psychology and Theatre. Amy has always had a passion for children and babies, and the pregnancy process, beginning as early as the age of three when she considered herself the chief caregiver of her baby brother. After taking a fascinating Child Development course, Amy was inspired to pursue a career in early prenatal and perinatal child development. In the future, Amy hopes to attend the Santa Barbara Graduate Institute where she will complete a Masters Degree in Prenatal and Perinatal Clinical Psychology. Amy’s other interests include singing, sports, and scuba diving in the icy waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Amy is excited to be a part of the Isis Maternity team in the fabulous city of Boston.
Emily S., Staff Associate
Emily is a Massachusetts native, and has recently received a BA from Emmanuel College in Boston. Emily began volunteering through her high school’s Campus Ministry program. There she served as a mentor to underprivileged children at the Julie Family Learning Center in South Boston and at Carolina House in Marshfield. Her interest in child health and development strengthened from the part time job she maintained all four years while at Emmanuel, caring for triplet girls. Emily did her senior year internship at the Medical-Legal Partnership for Children at Boston Medical Center where she assisted a team of staff attorneys raise the legal standard and create awareness for child health and wellbeing. Emily is excited to be working in an environment where child health and family wellbeing are a priority.
Julia K.
Julia grew up mostly in Western Massachusetts and moved to Boston to attend The Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University where she received her BFA in Photography. She worked different nanny positions throughout her college career and only further discovered her love for children. It was this love for children and photography that lead her to Portrait Simple, a portrait studio in Chestnut Hill. It was here she heard about Isis Maternity which seemed like a great place to focus more of her attention on children and families. On the side, she continues to photograph weddings and more. Julia is excited about the involvement with families that she will be able to have here at Isis.
Katie S.
Katie grew up in Western Mass and moved to Vermont to pursue a B.A. psychology and business administration from St. Michael’s College in Burlington. While in college she worked in restaurants as a server and bartender and after graduation moved into various management roles. After ten years in the restaurant industry, Katie decided it was time for a change. She wanted a career that was more personal, more holistic, and more wellness oriented. She enrolled at the Cortiva Muscular Therapy Institute in Watertown and has just recently completed a one year accelerated program in massage therapy. It is her desire to focus her practice on pregnancy and infants and plans to obtain advanced certification in the near future.
Kelley Q., Junior Staff Associate
Kelley is a Boston native who is working hard toward a BA in Health Science from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, CT. Post- graduation, she hopes to obtain her Masters in Pediatric Nurse Practitioning. Her family has lived in the Boston metro west area for over twenty years, although much of her extended family lives in the Midwest which allows Kelley to spend some time in her favorite city, Chicago! For the past three years, she has been a nanny for twin girls. Her love for children and her interest in women’s health led her to Isis Maternity, the perfect place to pursue her passion. Growing up with a younger brother and sister has only added to her love for children, and given her the best experience of all. When Kelley isn’t keeping her eye on little ones, she is reading, riding horses, or cooking.
Krista C.
Krista grew up in Vermont and moved to the Boston area to attend Boston University. Upon graduation, she started working at State Street Bank, both in the Boston area and abroad in Ireland. After returning from Ireland, Krista transferred her finance background into the financial software industry. As an Arlington resident for the past nine years and parent of the three year old, Connor, Krista is an enthusiastic supporter of groups and activities geared toward expecting families and parents of young children. Krista also pursues her passion for Landscape Design and has been taking courses at the Harvard Landscape Institute over the past few years. Krista enjoys spending time with her family and friends, cooking, gardening, and running.
Laura W.
Laura is originally from eastern Pennsylvania and recently moved to Boston to start working on her Master’s in social work at Boston University. She graduated in 2006 from the University of Pittsburgh with her Bachelor’s in Psychology. Laura has always known that she wanted to work with children and families. She has been babysitting for years, as well as volunteering with children in a number of community programs. Most recently, she has been considering a career in adoption social work or social work within the public school system. When she’s not busy with work and school, Laura likes to spend time with her roommates, read, watch movies and explore the city.
Lindsay M., Brookline Center Manager
Lindsay is a native of Massachusetts, and has returned here after spending time on the West Coast and in Madrid. She comes from a large family, with lots of cousins so there was never a shortage of babies. This contributed to her lifelong interest not just in babies, but also in women’s health. She graduated from Scripps College in 1999 with a BA and an honors thesis in Psychology. In May of 2006 she completed an MPH in maternal and child health at Boston University, where her talents were aggressively recruited for Isis Maternity by both Jenny and A’Nova. Lindsay has co-authored papers published by Pediatrics, the Journal of Human Lactation and the Journal of Infant, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy. She was most recently employed at The Breastfeeding Center at Boston Medical Center, and previously worked in the field of child/adolescent development. She is looking forward to transitioning from her analytic role as a researcher to a more interactive role directly helping women and children at Isis. Lindsay loves to travel and is an excellent cook and baker. She also enjoys crossword puzzles, hiking, running, and spending time with her family.
Zoe K.
Zoe has worked for nearly a decade running the admission offices of Boston’s top music programs at Berklee College of Music and, most recently, Boston University’s College of Fine Arts. A singer/songwriter herself, she loved working with young people who were pursuing their passion. With the birth of her daughter, Zoe’s new passion became clear as she fell in love with the power of birth and the important transition time for families and their newborn in the post-partum period. Zoe became an ALACE-trained birth doula and decided to dedicate her professional career to supporting expecting and new parents. She loves being with friends and family, yoga, and the ocean.
