Ruth L. RYT 200

Ruth has practiced yoga since 1987. To deepen her own practice she took a one year long teacher training course with Debbie Cohen (Core Yoga) in 2003/4, with a certification in traditional hatha yoga. She discovered that she loves to teach yoga and share with other people the enrichment yoga has brought to her life.
Ruth teaches a traditional class, starting with mind-centering breathing techniques, followed by poses and ending with relaxation and a brief guided meditation. She likes to bring in different asanas while working on all levels (standing, sitting/kneeling, lying on floor) and including a balanced selection of all possible ways of movement (forward-, back-, side bends, twists, balances, inversions). Her class is usually a mix between holding poses and flowing through the asanas. She gives special attention to alignment, including touch corrections. She also gears the level of the class to the students, while also challenging them.
Ruth has a PhD in German Language and Literature from the University of Zurich, Switzerland. She is an artist, illustrator, and liturgical dancer with the dance group Skyloom.
