Carla participated in a 10-month teacher training course with Debbie Cohen Core Yoga in 2004 – 2005. She particularly enjoys teaching gentle yoga, yin yoga and prenatal yoga. Carla states: “I believe that our practice of yoga allows each of us a personal journey into our bodies – the joints, muscles and organs that sustain us – and into our intellect as we learn to calm our active minds, moving ever toward a more calm, relaxed and present state of being. Yoga provides the roadmap for this journey. With this map, we are able to direct our awareness to parts of our body that hold tension and that need mindful attention. Every time I visit my yoga mat, it is with a feeling of the unknown, for always the day is new and my body is in a different place. This journey has taught me self-acceptance, compassion and tolerance for myself and for others. Always yoga is an exploration and an exercise in being. As a teacher of a variety of subjects for a number of years, I know of no other learning that holds the potential for effecting such powerful transformation.” Carla is passionate about working with prenatal students as this is a time of great change within the body and a time when the breathing and opening techniques of yoga can be particularly powerful.
